Independent Basis Service Set or IBSS Essay Example for Free

Independent Basis Service Set or IBSS Essay Independent Basis Service Set or IBSS is the most basic wireless local area network topology. Sometimes IBSS is also called an Ad Hoc Network. The IBSS is a form of WLAN network topology wherein the set of stations are being recognized by each of the stations. They are connected by the use of a wireless media in a fashion of peer-to-peer. In an Independent Basis Service Set topology, there is a direct communication between the mobile stations. There is a limitation in the communication between a mobile station to the each and other mobile stations because of the limitations in range. Relay functions are not present in an IBSS topology, so all the mobile stations that are connected should be within the range to be able to communicate properly (FallsConnect. com, 2007). Another Wireless LAN topology is the Infrastructure Basic Service Set. The component of the IBSS is termed as an access point (AP). The role of the access point in the Infrastructure BSS is to supply relay functions for the entire basic service set. Communication in the entire BSS is already done in the local points and direct communication is longer occurring. Relay of frames are done by the access points between the mobile stations. The relay function of the access point is effective and efficient in doubling the rage of the Infrastructure Basic Server Set. The access point of the Infrastructure Basic Service Set is also able to offer a bond or a connection that will be linked to the delivery system. The distribution system is also considered as the strength of character of the wireless local area network. The distribution system is the one which provides communication in an access point with other access points. The communication goals are to replace frames for the stations in their basic server set, to promote frames to pursue mobile stations as they move from one basic server set to another basic server set. Swapping over of frames to with a wired network is also a goal of the communication in the distribution system (FallsConnect. com, 2007). IEEE 802. 11 gave distribution system a definition that it may either be wired network similar to the 803. 2 or a special point box wherein interconnection of the access points and supply of required distribution services is given. There is a creation of an extension of the mobility range to an arbitrary range. And this is made possible by the 802. 11 by using the Extended Service Set. Extended Service Set is a set of communication for the basic server set. This is where the access points are able to communicate within themselves. Facilitation of movement from a station to the other station of the basic server set is the goal of the access points’ communication with other access points (US Robotics, 2007). The determination of a traffic done that was forwarded to the basic server set is being identified by the distribution system. The determination and evaluation of the traffic if it should be communicated back to the destination where it came from or if the traffic should be promoted to other access points are some of the roles of the distribution system. Access points have been able to transmit communication to the mobile station. This communication was made possible by the use of distribution system. The communication transmitted will be received immediately by the mobile station. The single MAC Layer is composed of the extended set server. Another composition of the MAC layer network are the mobile stations outside the extended server set. In the single MAC Layer network, all of the work stations are immobile. Network equipments outside the extended server set is not allowed to have mobility unless they are inside the extended server set. These kinds of indirection equipped with the 182. 11 architecture permits other network protocol outside the extended server set to operate properly in the wireless local area network where mobility is available and present (US Robotics, 2007). The data link layer of the Ethernet Local Area Network system was derived from the Medium Access Control protocol. The Media Access Control protocol is the one which summarizes a SDU. Carrier-Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance is the shared wireless media. This is where the MAC Layer offers controlled access. It is commonly like the impact detection access method of the 802. 3 Ethernet Local Area Network. The summary is started with the addition of a 14 byte header before the data and after the data there will also be an addition of a 4 byte (32 bit). The 14 byte header is the Protocol Control Information while the 4 byte is the Cyclic Redundancy Check. Reliable data delivery for the upper layers is being provided by the IEEE 182. 11 MAC Layer. 802. 11 MAC Layer provides security and privacy services to the delivery of the data. Services like authentications offer security together Wireless Equivalent Privacy. The Wireless Equivalent Privacy is the data delivery encryption service for the wireless local area network.

Scm And Erp Implementation At Nike Commerce Essay

Scm And Erp Implementation At Nike Commerce Essay Nike, Inc. is an incorporated company which designs, progresses and markets worldwide athletic, footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories. This company is a large publicly traded sportswear and equipment supplier which is based in United States. And it is the worlds leading supplier that supplies athletic shoes and apparel and it is a major manufacturer of sports equipment with revenue over $18.6 billion in year 2008. In that year Nike employed more than 30 000 people worldwide. [1] In 1964 the company started Blue Ribbon Sport which was founded by athlete Phil Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman. PRODUCTS Nike produces a wide range of products, such as shoes and apparel for sport activities like football, tennis, running, basketball, golf, combat sports, and American football for men, women and children. The first product of Nike was track running shoes which ware released by Nike in 1987. Some of the companys shoes reduce weight because they contain Fly wire and Linarite Foam. In 2010 Nike collection were worn by university teams like Miami, Alabama, Florida, Oregon, West Virginia, Pittsburgh etc. NIKES SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT Supply Chain Management or (SCM) is the management of the entire value-added chain, from the supplier to manufacturer right through to the retailer and the final customer. Three primary goals of SCM are: Reducing inventory, increasing the transaction speed by exchanging data in real-time and increasing sales by implementing customer requirements more efficiently. [3] Shortly, SCM is a business network converting from buying, making, moving, and warehousing to selling. The aim of Nike was to do their products different or unique from other shoe producers thats why the supply chain management of Nike focused on that by maintaining its relationship with its suppliers in order to be able to do its production process better. Nikes supply chain includes all the activities, such as goods and services from the raw material stage, assembly, manufacturers, warehouse, parts suppliers, and distribution to the end-user whose primary goal is to maximize the value and shareholder wealth of the company. Supply chain management brought certain benefits to the company. Costs from outsourcing allowed Nike to focus on its core competencies such as product design, marketing, and Air Sole technology. Relationship of company with its suppliers made it contingent for them to have better quality product with low costs through reduced administrative and payroll costs. Nikes variety of 860 suppliers let them flexibility, also allowed them faster service in cases of emergencies and quality standard. The technologies of Nike like transferring data, orders, communication via internet and databases let them perform and meet the demands of customers in a timely manner and at the same time allowed them to have a good inventory and monitoring control. Nikes supply chain was confronted with many obstacles. One of the reasons was an expensive implementation of technical components; another reason was having too many suppliers which can lead them losing control of inventory and operations management. A fault of some shoe parts suppliers can result delay in its supply chain process; non implementation of suppliers of Nikes can once again dispose of the public perception of the company and also trend forecasts and unstable economy may affect consumers need. I2 SOFTWARE IMPLEMENTATION In 1999, Nike Inc. decided to implement the first part of the supply chain strategy. So they decided for demand and supply chain planning application software from i2 technology. [4] The cost of this strategy was $40 million. The strategy of Nike using i2 software was to help the company to enable them resolve and detect any problems effectively, to perform effective business planning, and help them to match the supply with demand by mapping out the manufacturing of specific products. REASONS FOR I2S SOFTWARE FAILURE The failure was heart  when the company announced that they had profits of $97.4 million and this sum was 48 million below from their earlier forecast for the third quarter ended February 28, 2001.They also mentioned that this revenue short fall was caused from the supply chain software that was  installed form i2s Technologies. By the way this failure affected companys reputation as an innovative user of technology. Some problems that were caused from the i2 software were as follows: Integration: it couldnt integrate with SAP ERP, the integration was required to be with ERP, SCM and CRM but this didnt happen in i2 SCM that was working so isolated. Customization: there was a high customization demand forecast which caused system operations to be very slow. Deployment using legacy system: the complexity for entering input information by the lack of integration in several languages and also subsystems results in crashes, bugs, enormous delays. There was no realistic time of goals: because there was an extreme pressure In timelines , this result in low level of testing before going alive and may be pushing the probability of errors. And the following problems were that the software was giving inadequate information, the market condition begins to change and NCS project complication and as a result of all this review of meetings. After all this problems the Nike and the company that produced software were pointing finger at each other. Software Company said that they had some specific templates and methodology for use and we always recommend to our customers to follow them but Nike instead chose not to do that. Also she added that Nikes problem is isolated incident and the other 1000 companies are not in risk. IMPLEMENTING SAP AFS This time Nike decided to implement  specifically  developed software for  apparel and for footwear industry the software called AFS which was a variant of the SAP R/3. With the single  Instance Strategy, Nike begin using SAP AFS application across all the geographies where Nike is sold and ,on the other hand they also decided to chose to implement the other SAP applications which include  Supply Chain management (SCM) and Business Information warehouse which was considered a pilot test of SAP Net Weaver platform for the near future. The company thinks that the single Instance Strategy would result in better integration  and also  provide  a competitive edge by enabling holistic view of its business. BENEFITS Nike spent six years and $500 million on the project. In 2004 the 80% of the project was completed, and the company gained several benefits from the project. The benefits were dividing: better financial management improved their  Ã‚  revenue of  Ã‚  forecasting decreased the inventory level quick manufacturer and design process Direct Benefits: Better integration between departments Improved level of decision making Better visibility into costumer order transactions Non-quantifilable benefits CONCLUSION As  a conclusion we can say that every company leers by their mistakes even though this mistakes cost a lot.  As we discussed below one of the biggest mistake of the Nike was choosing a poor quality company that had never designed such big software and tried first time on Nike and when the problem occurred they werent able to accept their faults. By the way also we learned the importance of pilot test because of the pressure they couldnt test the software and they faced a problem such that  the lose was felt 9 months in the company. There was a vision gap in the company, where the role of forecasting wasnt clearly defined and it had a hard influence on supply chain management. And finally if there existed any  experienced external consultant, both previous problems would  have been managed.

Research Paper -- essays papers

Research Paper Recent studies on parental involvement in education have found that there are many benefits for both the student and the adult when parents become involved in their children’s education. Without parent support, it is very difficult for a child to be motivated. From what I have seen growing up, only a small percentage of students are self-motivated, so it is absolutely vital that parents assist in the motivation process. I found this table to be particularly interesting and important. TABLE 3: FREQUENTLY IDENTIFIED OUTCOMES OF PARENTAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT SCHOOL # 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 To the Student: Raised self-esteem, motivation * * * * * * * * * * Increased Resources * * * * * To Staff and School: Decreased Stress / Improved Performance * * * * * * * * * * Improved Parental Support * * * * * * * * To Parents and Community Improved Realtions with School * * * * * * * * * Better able to help at home * * * (Cross Case Analysis) This is depicting ten different schools that were surveyed about their feelings on certain issues, and it turns out that eight of the ten schools thought parental involvement was necessary. Risks and Responsibilities of Coaching Swimming Essay -- Swimming Coac

Risks and Responsibilities of Coaching Swimming Introduction   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The purpose of this paper is to look at the area of risk management with reference to the sport of swimming. There is no doubt that the ability to prevent any types of injury to athletes is of the utmost importance. The safety of the athletes should therefore be the primary concern of both facility managers and coaches. By working together, one would hope, that all unnecessary injuries could be prevented.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  One of the most severe injuries that can occur is that of a spinal injury. The area of prevention that addresses this issue is that of spinal injury management and it will be looked at more closely later in this paper. Even with all the extra emphasis in this day and age on safety issues, these kinds of injuries are still far too prevalent.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In 1996, Michael Berger and Judith Middleton state that in the United Kingdom, there are around 40,000 children each year that suffer from head injuries. Some of these individuals will have received severe injuries, in that they will have been unconscious for at least 20 minutes and so will most likely have suffered brain damage.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The sport of swimming has the obvious danger of drowning. There are also potential risks of spinal injuries caused by collisions with the floor of the pool, the walls in the pool and other swimmers. Many other injuries can be the result of a slippery deck or training equipment not correctly stored away. There is also a risk of injury from the chemicals which are present at a pool such as chlorine. Risk Management   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Aquatic injury prevention should be part of any facilities risk management program. Risk management involves identifying and reducing dangerous conditions that can cause injuries and financial loss. Thus, the aim of a risk management is in a way a kind of preventative medicine, to tackle the issue of a problem thus ensuring that those kinds of accidents will not occur. There are some that would contend that those individuals that suffer an injury are unfortunate victims of circumstance. Many injuries can be avoided through an understanding of the factors that can cause injuries to occur and then a knowledge of how to go about preventing such situations to occur.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Charles Bucher and March Krotee (1998) explain that there is an added risk in any physical education exercise as opposed to a ... ...water conditions, many dangers are in and around water.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Risk management in a pool environment is basically concerned with aquatic injury prevention. A highly developed risk management program will substantially reduce the risks of injury. By understanding how injuries are caused, one can better prevent them. Effective communication with patrons is critical for helping to prevent injuries. Through this communication, the patrons can have fun in a safer environment. References American Red Cross (1993). Cinematography in Godfather the Movie Essay examples -- Film Mario Puz

Mario Puzo’s "The Godfather" was the first and most influential gangster movie that paved the way for gangster movies of the future. The movie was directed by Frances Ford Copolla, who made many different ingenious ways to portray this gangster classic. The movie was a very subversive movie, and one of the first of all time. The Godfather has a many different uses of light settings through the whole movie, in which the movie can be interpreted on. The lighting in "The Godfather," is very dim and is often said to be compared with a Rembrant. The lighting suggest many things throughout the film like a painting. The light scenes in the movie are to portray the Corleone family as good people, someone you could relate to not look down upon. Such as the wedding scene. The scene is very happy and bright, to make you start off to think that the Corleone’s are loving family, and family minded people. The dim light in the film is used to induce fear and death. Such as the scene where Don Corleone gets shot, or when Mike is going to kill the two people in the restaurant. The scene that contradicts the lighting theory is the heart attack of Don Corleone, but it could be look at as a happy time, a time of rebirth, Michael’s coming into power. "The Godfather," shows a tremendous amount of family values throughout the film. I think the best line in the film is when Don says to Mike " A man who does not spend time with his family is not a man." A good example of the Corleone’s family value...

Structural Adjustment Programme and the Nigerian Economy

HIS predecessor and father James had already ran the country monetary assets down. Charles got into power with no money and a high taste for lavish things. In 1640 Charles wanted to go to war and he demanded that parliament should give him the money, when they refused he became furious and wanted to dissolve them. The issues kept piling up and tension grew between Charles and the parliament. It eventually got to the point where Charles dissolved the parliament because of their refusal to release money to him, and he ruled without them for 1 1 years. After those years a Scottish group called The Covenanter tried to obtrude England, as a result Charles put the parliament together again, with the sole alma of raising funds to stop the group. To his disappointment the parliament refused to help him and he dissolved them yet again. He finally had to pay the Scottish people 850 Euros everyday to prevent them from moving forward, he eventually ran out of money in 1641 and was forced to call back parliament. Charles lack of money and his peoples revolution against him. Another factor to consider is that of religion. The English people did not like or want to be ruled by Catholics. Charles went ahead to marry a French Catholic lady, this caused a lot of anger and unrest amongst the people; not only that but it gave the people yet another reason to despise Charles. After dissolving parliament he made Laud the Archbishop, Laud went ahead to make a lot of changes in the church like making the priests wear robes, putting up stained-glass windows and building statues within and outside the church; this changes made the English people remember Catholicism whish they despised so dearly.
